Since ancient times, ebony used in Buddhist implements has been known as jet black or blue ebony.
Due to excessive logging, the amount produced is now very small, and striped ebony has been used as a substitute.
While pure black ebony is considered one of the rarest woods today, blue ebony is even rarer and is known as the "phantom ebony," the pinnacle of ebony.
Blue ebony is not actually ebony with a bluish tint; rather, the wood dust produced during the milling process gives it a bluish-green appearance. Because of this color, it is also called "green ebony."
Over time, it gradually transforms into a beautiful, deep, jet-black color.
This is undoubtedly a rare and highly prized type of wood, known only to those in the know.
